Trio JYJ is back to steal your life and time with their beautifully self-composed music. “In Heaven” is their first Korean album and the songs have been so wonderfully composed, written, and sung. The title track, “In Heaven”, is one of the best songs that I have heard this year. But does the MV match the song’s greatness, emotions, and feelings?
There is actually a meaning behind this song: Jaejoong composed this song to show that everyone has feelings of regret. This song was inspired by actor Park Yonghwa’s passing. The day before Park Yonghwa committed suicide, he called Jaejoong to go out for a drink, but since Jaejoong was in the US recording for the album, he had to pass up on the offer, saying that they would go out for drinks when he got back. Unfortunately, he was unable to make good on the offer as the next day, Park Yonghwa committed suicide, much to Jaejoong’s shock.
The dance/choreography. What dance? What choreography? There is none. Oh, that’s right – it’s a story MV. I like.
The song. The song invokes emotions within me. The piano introduction is just so beautiful. The dialogue heartbreaking. You can hear them singing with so much soul, it’s so touching. And you know that when the singers sing with such depth and emotion, it makes the MV just that much stronger, the song just that more meaningful. JYJ isn’t called one of the most talented groups for no reason.
Thoughts. The MV was beautifully crafted, the song beautifully sung. I must confess, I didn’t pay much attention to JYJ until their solo songs for their respective dramas. If they sung so beautifully by themselves, I thought to myself, imagine how they sound together. And they surely didn’t disappoint here. I am blown away by the quality of the songs, the meanings behind the songs. “In Heaven” is both a fantastic song and MV and there’s no doubt about it! And the fact that there will be a 10-minute long video excites me. I’m looking forward to that.
Overall Rating. 5!/5
